I won’t get started on thrifting (because I’ll never stop blabbing), but instead I’ll let this fab silk Donna Karen blazer I scored do the talking. I wore this two weeks ago on one of those rare mild days. The blazer is about 3 sizes too big, but the texture, fit, and deep navy hue is so gorgeous I couldn’t resist. I decided to style it buttoned up sans shirt, because why not.

and remember: “Break all the fucking rules.” I’ve had this quote as my iPhone wallpaper for a while now. Feel free to challenge authority. norms. conventions. You never know unless you take risks.

Here’s a super femme outfit I wore this weekend to bask in the 50 degree weather. I’m so over this winter, so you can imagine my excitement when I realized I didn’t have to bundle up! (I’m ready to tuck my coats in the back of my closet and bury my scarves & gloves deep in my drawers.) I stuck to my uniform of a high waisted pencil skirt and paired it with a men’s denim button-up, added an oversized vintage belt and lace-up ‘fuck me pumps‘ (yeah, they make your confidence level go from zero to 100 in a split second).

…and remember: “Your ability to attract goodness, wholeness, is most powerful when you recognize it and hope to attract it within yourself first. If you want more fulfilling relationships, be full yourself. Be full of love. Be full love respect. Be full of loyalty. You can’t attract what you don’t have. Whole attracts whole. Love attracts love.” (adapted from here)

Happy New Year *pops bottle of champagne* !!!! Hope everyone rang in 2014 with loved ones, family & friends!

logo public

I’m proud to announce and finally publicize something that has been in the works for quite some time: my official logo (and website coming soon)! When I initially started my blog, I always had the intentions of taking it very far and creating a fashion hub – but at the time I was unsure how I’d execute that. While keeping consistent (sorta) with my blog, I’ve been working on the back-end of the official website with my very own URL. Everything is still in the works so I won’t show case anything yet, but I am proud to say I’ve streamlined all my social network channels to reflect my brand, vision, and logo.

I am truly motivated and inspired to keep pushing forward because of all those I’ve connected with via my blog. To me, it isn’t about the number of views, likes, reblogs, or comments; recognition doesn’t drive me. Rather, I am compelled by my eternal desire to create the person I want to be and to share my dream, with the hope that it impacts someone. Read.

On with the show… Here’s an outfit I wore last week to explore the High Line, grab lunch at Flor de Sol, and catch ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’ (epic!).

Let’s get into the holiday spirit with cropped fuzzy sweaters and tartan patterns! Nothing screams winter fever like this combination. As you may have noticed, I have an affinity for high waisted pencil/midi skirts paired with cropped tops. After playing around with different garments, I’ve realized what works for my body, what’s most flattering, and what I feel most comfortable in. I can wear pencil skirts for days.

Mad Hatter x KAWS

1

NYC’s Chelsea area is always filled with visual goodies. The KAWS exhibit at the Mary Boone Gallery is a must-see and I’m so glad I got a chance on a day and time in which the gallery wasn’t crowded. Did I mention that it’s completely FREE, along with all the exhibits on the same block and across the street? Holler.

On days when I know I’ll do some heavy duty trekking throughout the city, I trade in heels for my favorite and comfiest booties. It was also rainy this day, and if you’re a curly head, you know that means major fluff and frizz. I tried a hat for once and I really liked the outcome. To add a pop to my overall demure look, I wore an item I scored a few months ago from the 3.1 Phillip Lim for Target collection. So so so late, but who cares? I still love this piece.

Coat – Calvin Klein c/o Century 21 (similar: here) // 3.1 Phillip Lim for Target Tuxedo Shirt // T-shirt – H&M (similar: here) // Jeans – American Apparel // Booties – Dolce Vita // Necklace – Beacon’s Closet // Ring Set – H&M // Hat – Zara // Handbag – Kate Spade // Lipstick – MAC: Cyber

Garçon

Garçon

Really quick post…I’m pretty sure everyone else is equally busy during Thanksgiving week. This outfit was worn yesterday while running errands in the city. Layers were the name of the game, and I made sure to stay warm and stylish (it’s a cold world out there!)

Denim Top – H&M (similar: here + there) // “Boy” Sweatshirt – Forever 21 // High-Waisted Jeans – American Apparel // Oversized Coat – Anne Klein c/o Marshall’s (similar: here) // Booties: Forever 21 c/o De Janeiro // Rings: Zara

The coat and booties are perfect examples of why I love shopping at discount stores – and were purchased at unbelievable low prices, $80 & $17, respectively. Yeah, I’m that person; if you compliment my clothes or shoes, I’ll tell you exactly where to buy it, how much it costs, how long the sale lasts, GPS coordinates of the store. Ha! Nevertheless, I’m a bargain hunter, but still like to acquire quality items that will last in my wardrobe for years. After all, there’s no point in adding pieces to your closet if they have no sustainability.

Fall Foliage

With the temperature change, it’s become unbelievable difficult for me to choose what I’d like to wear on a day-to-day. I’m a summer baby to the fullest and the less layers, the better. I’ve always believed that coats detract from the aesthetic of outfits… but the right coat can definitely compliment your look! I LOVE this overcoat I purchased last winter. Although it’s lightweight, it works well over thick garments and is super versatile. It’s an item I can wear before the blistering cold hits…oh, the joy!

During this season, on days that show promise of a smidgen of warmth, I prefer to wear pencil skirts to switch up the tired pants/jeans look. I paired my oxblood/bordeaux skirt with a sweatshirt, booties, and a chunky circle scarf for a casual chic look.

I’m big on the details, so I love how the skirt and sweatshirt have contrasting fabric patterns. Plus, the sweatshirt’s incognito pockets were a nice added touch.

Haute Pink

So, I rushed this outfit. Originally, I wanted to wear thigh high boots today, but it was entirely too warm out for any stifling material. Instead, I kept it comfy yet chic with these pumps that I’ve anticipated wearing with boyfriend jeans; and of course, I stuck to my uniform of pairing them with a crop top. Finally, I decided to pull my hair back for a more reserved look and to show off these lovely gems on my ears. I’m exceedingly self-conscious about my forehead (where my five-heads at?), but I’m slowly embracing it.

Hello, long time no see! It’s been an entire m-o-n-t-h since my last post (hangs head in shame). There’s really no excuse, but I’ve been caught up in personal life, employment changes, and such so I’ve been busy to say the least. Long story short, I’m trying to get back on my grind!

Here’s an outfit I wore the other day. I’m not a big fan of the fall, but I try my best to take advantage of this lovely in-between weather we’ve been having in NYC. Gosh, I love when it’s still cool enough to wear just one layer of clothing and simply throw a blazer or light jacket on in the evenings. Even more so, I love that I can still rock crop tops, which I am ever so fond of. As of late, I put myself on a budget, so I figured a simple yet chic black and white outfit would be perfect to assemble. Since the ensemble already has a sleek look to it, I minimized on the accessories and coupled it with a bold red + pink lunch bag purse.
